Dr Gardner would think that you are lucky students to have a compulsory geography course – the Environment of Pakistan, 2059/02. The revised syllabus emphasises issues concerning Pakistan as a developing country and economy and this prepares you to be knowledgeable and thoughtful citizens who can help to lead Pakistan forward to a more successful future.
The development of analytical and critical thinking skills has always been an important requirement of this syllabus. For this students need to have opportunities to analyse and evaluate information. The Skills Book exercises provide practice in this.
The author, Huma Naz Sethi, has done a sterling job incorporating all the new requirements of the syllabus in ‘The Environment of Pakistan.
As a former examiner, I would like to recommend this book for the thoughtful approach taken in its comprehensive coverage of the syllabus. Geography is a vibrant subject, evolving and encompassing wide-ranging ideas which can inspire. It can rightly be said that Geography teachers are the “architects” of future generations who are both keen and able to face the challenges facing Pakistan’s society and economy.
